Realtor Institute t/a Proxima Academy is approved by NSW Fair Trading to deliver the compulsory CPD courses and has also received specialist approval to present the Residential Tenancy Reforms (RTR) session as an interactive webinar. All Class 1 and Class 2 Real Estate licence holders are required to complete their CPD by 30 June 2026. This includes completion of the 3-hour RTR session and the 4-hour Real Estate session.

CPD, or Continuing Professional Development, is a yearly training requirement set by NSW Fair Trading for everyone working in the real estate industry. It ensures that all licence and certificate holders remain informed about industry updates, comply with current regulations, and continue to grow professionally.

Real estate CPD requirements

In the 2025-26 CPD year (1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026), agents that hold a Real Estate category licence and are Residential Real Estate Salespeople, Buyers Agents and Residential Property Managers, must complete:

  • a minimum of 7 hours’ interactive training delivered by an approved provider covering 4 compulsory CPD topics.

Compulsory topics must be delivered in:

  • a face-to-face interactive training environment (maximum 40 attendees), or
  • an interactive webinar (maximum 25 attendees), and
  • include an assessment activity.

Residential Real Estate Salespeople and Buyers Agents

7 Hours 4 Topics

  1. Privacy Law Reforms
  2. Mitigating risk and managing psychosocial hazards in the workplace
  3. Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing
  4. Residential tenancy reforms (must be delivered for a minimum of 3 hours).

Residential Property Managers

7 Hours 4 Topics

  1. Privacy Law Reforms
  2. Mitigating risk and managing psychosocial hazards in the workplace
  3. Navigating NCAT
  4. Residential tenancies reforms (must be delivered for a minimum of 3 hours).

(All Class 1 agents have an additional requirement to spend a minimum of five hours attending a NSW Fair Trading accredited event. You will be contacted by NSW Fair Trading in relation to these forums.)

Fair Trading Event details: (Check the email from Fair Trading)

This is an invitation-only event, targeted at Class 1 Licence holders to help you meet your 2025/26 continuing professional development obligations. Fair Trading will issue you with a certificate of attendance, for full attendance and participation in the event.)

Dual Licence Holders CPD Requirements: 

If you hold a dual licence in both real estate and stock and station and you are a residential real estate salesperson, buyers' agent, property manager, short-term residential property manager, commercial real estate agent or business broker, you need to complete the required compulsory CPD hours and topics as mentioned above PLUS the additional hours and topics.

Assistant Agents CPD Requirements:
